Walt Disney World Anniversary

After a year on the ground in Orlando, Florida, setting up stages for live entertainment, we finally opened WDW on October 1, 1971, with great fanfare and massive crowds. Dave Grusin was the Music Director for the TV special, and I conducted live acts, while Meredith Willson conducted the high school bands from across the country. What a wonderful experience. I stayed for another six months to supervise new talent, and returned a few times, conducting for celebrities at various venues there.
