When SHINDIG took their hit TV show on the road, Richard Bellis was the Music Director and asked me to join him as the show’s drummer. I was at Cal State University at San Diego and the head of the music department called my parents, saying “If you let your son do this, it will ruin his life forever.” I didn’t go on the road with that show, but as a performance major quickly decided the teacher oriented program at San Diego wasn’t a good fit. Seems like Richard and I both did pretty well without that professor. We’ve both been conducting, composing, arranging and performing ever since.
