TBT: November 29, 1970. My first job as a conductor on a major television variety special, and it won an Emmy for my boss, composer Dominic Frontiere, who would later become my composer mentor and help me get my first full season on a TV series.

— at Samuel Goldwyn Studio, NBC Studios, Bodie Ghost Town, Ports O’Call Village, Knott’s Berry Farm.
