At 84, my dear mentor Dominic Frontiere is still going a hundred miles an hour with what I think is his third new family. We first met when he was the Music Director and I was the Music Conductor on the 1970s patriotic variety show, SWING OUT SWEET LAND! hosted by John Wayne and dozens of other celebrities of the time. That won Dom an EMMY. Ten years later, he was the man who got me onto my first full series, VEGA$. He had me ghostwrite ten shows and then asked producer Duke Vincent how he liked the music that season. According to Dominic, Duke said “This is the best you’ve ever done,” to which Dom announced that I was the composer. I got the gig. Dom moved on to other projects.
