Enchanted Village, south of Disneyland, California was a large theme park with different “worlds” and fully produced mixed animal and human shows in each area. I composed all the ambient and show music for the park and the amazing Bill Bowersock (LA Gay Mens Chorus) wrote the special material and show books. One of our stage shows, The Lost Island of Zambala, was very loosely based on a combination of the movies Island of Dr. Moreau and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Enchanted Village was actually the extension of Ralph and Toni Helfer’s company that provided exotic animals to TV and film..remember Daktari? The costs of maintaining the animals and large casts could not compete with the huge successful park just up the road and PETA would have been all over this park, had they been the powerful lobby they are today!
It was that huge reel of music that got me my first agents, Al Bart and Stan Milander, and first movie hire (Zero to Sixty) by Gary LeMel.
